You will learn about the basics of operation and care of horses, enhance your knowledge and gain confidence in the skills needed to take care of horses and their facilities.
Access to horses and facilities is required.
You may choose to take either Cow/Calf or Equine studies to earn this credit, but not both.
You will learn about horse production, safe handling and behaviours, maintaining equine facilities and their environment and how to maintain equine health. In a final project, you will have the opportunity to explore agriculture careers and post-secondary education that interest you.
Access to a horse and equine facilities is required to submit videos demonstrating the skills you've learned.
Due to the potential hazards when dealing with horses, students must have an adult mentor’s permission and willingness to supervise and guide their hands-on activities.
