You will enhance your knowledge in basic equine reproduction, recognize and prevent common diseases in horses, offer basic first aid, and provide for more complex nutritional requirements.
Access to horses and facilities is required.
Students may choose to take either Cow/Calf or Equine studies to earn this credit, but not both.
You learn about the horses life cycle, reproduction, breeding technologies, how to load and unload horses, equine psychology and common diseases and vaccine programs. You will also learn how to manage pasture rotations and about the nutritional needs of horses.
Access to a horse and equine facilities is required to practice skills and create videos demonstrate what you've learned.
Due to the potential hazards when dealing with horses, students must have an adult mentor’s permission and willingness to supervise and guide the hands-on activities.
