Cow/Calf Production 20 focuses on Calving and Herd Health.

Students may choose to take either Cow/Calf or Equine studies to earn this credit, but not both.

What Will I Learn?

Students will learn how to operate cattle equipment, identify sick cattle, monitor cattle during calving, maintain fence and corrals and operate farm equipment.

Due to the seasonal nature of this course, we suggest that students who register for Semester 1 allow all year to complete the course.

Students will prepare videos to demonstrate skills they have learned from the course.

The course consists of:

  • 30-40 assignments

  • a resource binder final project

  • hands-on skills

Cattle identification

Identifying sick cattle

Monitoring cattle during calving

Maintaining fences and corrals

Operation of farm trucks
