This language and culture course for beginners will focus on the discovery and the acquisition of basic vocabulary and structures in order to develop oral and written communication skills while fostering cultural awareness of the Francophone world.

Please read over the U of R payment and refund information. Students are responsible for all tuition costs, application fees, textbooks, and any other associated course fees. U of R courses typically cost $1050 per course. RESP money may be used to cover some of these costs as it is a post-secondary course – please check with your financial institution to see if it qualifies.
This course follows the U of R schedule, which is not aligned with traditional high school schedule. For specific information about start dates, please refer to the respective post-secondary institution's website.
U of R offers High School Accelerated (HSXL) courses and Dual Credit courses. HSXL are dual credit courses, courses are scheduled specifically for HSXL students, courses begin later in the term to accommodate the high school schedule, and students will be in class with other HSXL students. Dual Credits (not HSXL) are designed for first-year university students, follow the U of R academic calendar. High school can take these select courses and receive dual credit.
Students interested in Dual credit courses need to apply and be accepted by the U or R.
Students (grade 11 or 12) interested in HSXL course must be 16 years old, have a minimum of 65% on five academic subjects over two years of secondary level courses, and satisfy English Language Proficiency requirements. HSXL students will also be required to take CCE 099 which is an Academic Integrity Workshop that all HSXL students must register for and complete alongside their first HSXL course.
If students plan on applying to the U of R after high school graduation you may be eligible to get your dual credit courses paid for by the U of R. Apply for admission after high school and register for courses within 14 months of your high school graduation to be eligible for the Tuition Reimbursement Award. The award covers the tuition cost of all your High School Accelerated courses!
All U of R courses have limited seats. Students with completed applications will be accepted to the program on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you intend on taking this course, it is important that you speak with your high school Career Guidance Counselor / Principal or Sask DLC Academic Advisor. They will assist you with the Sask DLC registration process to ensure your high school credit is properly awarded.
Upon completion of the Sask DLC registration, we will email you the necessary form to register with the U of R.
