You will learn about the land and people of Turtle Island (North America) before and after European contact, with a focus on the vital role of Indigenous peoples in Saskatchewan’s history
You will be introduced to the diverse groups of Indigenous people that make up the Canadian landscape and will explore First Nations, Inuit and Métis perspectives on identity, worldview, community, kinship, governance, treaties and economies.
You will be given the opportunity to expand your existing understandings of First Nations, Inuit and Métis cultures through readings, videos, journal reflections and research assignments/projects that require critical thinking and collaboration. This course bridges culture and builds new understanding and respect for the many Indigenous cultures and peoples in Canada. This rich history of Indigenous peoples is important to our understanding of who we are as a nation, looking at the past to engage with the present and envision our future.

You have the option to enrol in Indigenous Studies 10 as guided learning or the online asynchronous course.
Guided Learning: you will attend a once-a-week live session, where your teacher offers live instruction and prepares you for the week of work ahead.
