Power Engineering Class 5 20L

Students will learn about cover boilers, boiler fittings and controls, boiler operations and maintenance, fuels and combustion, piping and valves, thermal and heating systems, human comfort and basic math.

Power Engineering Class 5 20L is only offered in Semester 1.

What Will I Learn?

The curriculum for the courses has been adopted from the Standardization of Power Engineering Examinations Committee (SOPEEC) for a 5th Class Power Engineer. The courses involves:

  • 50 to 75 hours of online theory

  • 50 hours spent on a work-study obtaining the steam time requirements for the course and for the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan's (TSASK) 5th Class Power Engineering Certification.  

Upon completion of the course, students will have the opportunity to write their Class 5 Power Engineering exam. If students are successful on this exam, they will receive a Class 5 Power Engineering industry recognized certificate.
